At a gateway, you can enjoy exhibitions, obtain maps and valuable advice, maybe rent a boat or bicycle – or perhaps join one the exciting excursions offered by experienced guides. And don’t forget that the fjordside villages and hamlets are attractions in their own right, with many sites that are worth exploring.
Agatunet is the northeasterly gateway to Folgefonna National Park. We invite you to watch insightful multimedia presentations and talk to the knowledgeable staff. Enjoy waffles and homemade apple juice in the charming café – after exploring this hamlet that dates back to the Middle Ages.
The national park village of Jondal is a natural gateway to the Folgefonna National Park. Situated just 19 km from the glacier, and with a road almost to the glacier’s edge, Jondal is the perfect base for your holiday adventures! The village offers excellent accommodation, a wide range of activities, and expert information at the Juklafjord Information Centre.
Åkrafjordtunet is situated just 10 km west of the national park. Exhibits of rocks and minerals, an informative film and knowledgeable staff make the centre a great place to learn more about Folgefonna National Park. There’s also a pleasant café and shops that sell local food products.
A visit to the centre in Rosendal is sure to enhance your enjoyment of Folgefonna National Park. Exhibits, films and multimedia presentations reveal the inner life of Folgefonna glacier, show how the fjords were carved out by ice, and tell you more about the area’s geology, wildlife and botany.
The town of Odda is situated at the head of the Sørfjord. You can obtain excellent information about Folgefonna National Park and attractions in the region at Odda Service Centre, which doubles as a Tourist Information Office. Odda has a proud industrial heritage worth exploring.
